my beach spring break essentials

Next to Thanksgiving, Spring Break is my favorite “holiday” of the year. You can choose to do nothing (totally respectable considering all of the busy-ness of the school year), or go to the mountains to ski, the beach to relax, Washington DC to see the sights and pretty much anywhere in between. We spent Spring Break 2021 in Turks and Caicos. Gorgeous! A 2.5 hour flight took the seven of us to white sand, clear blue water and just a total sense of calm in the midst of the craziness of our world right now.

For a beach getaway, there are a number of goodies that I make sure I have packed in my suitcase and, when it comes to almost everything, I read review after review before I decide to purchase (or not purchase) something. These are the items that I have found to hold true to their advertising claims!

  1. MDSolarSciences Mineral Tinted Creme: This is hands down the BEST face sunscreen I have ever used. It is smooth and creamy without irritating my oily, acne prone skin. It also adds a touch of color when I don’t want to wear makeup!

  2. SuperGoop! PLAY Sunscreen: Easy to apply, rubs in with no white residue, works perfectly. This is my favorite sunscreen whether I’m on the beach or sweating through an outdoor workout.

  3. Revlon Oil Absorbing Volcanic Face Roller: My teenage girls turned me on to this one. With a swipe over the t-zone, oil is GONE.

  4. Mar Y Sol Straw Bag: The colorful poms on the Mar Y Sol beach bags hooked me so I snagged one for a girls trip to Miami and it became my go-to beach bag. They are so well made, have fun colors and hold so much.

  5. Cupshe Hit Summer Stripe Bikini Set: It’s no secret that Cupshe has become the go-to for bathing suits and I can’t tell you how many Cupshe suits I have purchased (through Amazon) only to return. Like many women, I just don’t love swimsuit shopping. When I discovered this suit a few years ago I fell in love (how is that even possible with a bathing suit?!). It is comfortable and fits better than most suits in all the right places.

  6. Funny Bunny by OPI: Kim does my nails at our local nail salon. When she suggested “Funny Bunny” (a soft white color) I, without hesitation, said, “let’s try it”. She was, as usual, spot on! Funny Bunny is the perfect white for all over color or as a french manicure tip.

  7. Birkenstock Arizona Essentials White Sandal: These are legit my absolute favorite summer shoe. They are soft and comfortable, easy to clean and go with bathing suits to sundresses.

  8. Reduce Tumbler: We have all owned so many water bottles, am I right? When one of my girlfriends told me about this one, I was skeptical. Really, how can another water bottle be so amazing? Well, this one is. It holds a lot, stays ice cold and feels good in your hand. Not to mention it’s durable, pretty cute and comes in different colors!

  9. Panama Straw Hat: I have friends who look so cute in hats…baseball hats, fedoras, beanies, winter hats. I’m certainly not one of those BUT when I came across this hat I decided to try it. I love it! It fits well, gives good sun protection, feels like it’s good quality and the price can’t be beat.

  10. Non-Slip Hair Claw: How funny that banana clips are now back in style! These clips give a more updated look and my girls and I just love them.

  11. Rodan and Fields Lashboost: There are all sorts of ways to make your lashes look longer and fuller and I’ve tried a few of them. This one doesn’t irritate my eyes like other brands and it works so well!

  12. Ray-Ban Pink Aviators: I don’t even know how many Ray-Ban sunglasses I have owned but I DO know how many of these pink aviators I have bought. Four. The first pair were eaten by our new puppy almost 10 years ago. The second pair were shattered when I leaned forward at Target and dropped them on the floor. The third pair were stolen right from under my nose while I was playing with my kids at the park The fourth pair are carefully placed in their case every single day…until they meet their demise, I’m sure.

  13. Oversized Boyfriend Tunic Jean Shirt: Thank you again, Old Navy, for bringing us great fashion at a great price! This jean shirt is in my year-round wardrobe. In the spring I pair it with linen shorts, for summer it’s my go-to bathing suit cover up, fall with a vest and winter with a cardigan and leggings. Bonus…it washes and dries well, too. Snag one, or three, today!
